    Pre-Separation Air Filtration System
This time-saving technology boosts the efficiency of the engine’s filter system, doubling the time between air filter cleanings. Air drawn into the engine is first separated via centrifugal force, ejecting the heavier dirt particles before being routed to the air filter. This pre-separation means less dirt to be captured by the air filter, resulting in less frequent cleaning and maintenance.

    Decompression Valve
The decompression valve, also referred to as 'deco' or 'deco valve', vents compression in the cylinder for easier starting. The decompression valve temporarily reduces the compression in the combustion chamber during cranking and helps reduce the effort needed to pull the starter rope. It is opened manually and closes automatically as soon as the engine fires.

Important Information
WARNING! The occurrence called “kickback” can cause serious or fatal injury. Always read the instruction manual carefully before using your saw. STIHL uses a green and yellow color-coding system to help you select a powerhead, bar and chain combination that complies with the kickback requirements of ANSI Standard B175.1 (gasoline-powered saws) and §30 of UL 1662/ ANSI Standard B175.1 (electric chainsaws). Ask your STIHL dealer about safe operating procedures and the advantages of the STIHL Quickstop® chain brake, STIHL Quickstop® Plus (Q) additional chain braking feature, STIHL reduced kickback bars and STIHL low-kickback saw chains.

STIHL recommends the use of green reduced kickback bars and green low kickback chains on all STIHL chainsaws.
* The actual listed guide bar length can vary from the effective cutting length depending upon which power head it is installed.

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 10reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great performance, like the Quickstop. In 2002 I replaced an ancient 031 with no chain brake with a new 390. That saw ran through 150+ cords of locust, hickory, elm and whatever else was being thinned over a 13 year period. Just before that a friend bought an 036 that cost more than my 390. Looking back, the extra money would have been about $12 a year for a better balanced, lighter saw with a little more power. The 390 still runs, I just wanted to try the 362 C-MQ for the extra chain brake feature and the extra HP.The argument against the C-MQ I heard was the extra money vs the non C-MQ. Over the life of the saw that will work out to be less than $.50 per cord. I bought this for the same reason I went to a saw with a chain brake in 2002 and for the same reason I wear stihl chaps when I am cutting. Safety is cheaper than injuries. It broke in after about 5 tanks and continues to get better. I like the balance with a 20" bar and contrary to other reviews it has plenty of power with the bar buried, tried it on a nasty old 40" hedgerow tree and it did fine. After a day in the woods I like to use the stihl clamp on filing jig to true up the chain and it makes a big difference when cutting hardwood and big diameter trees. Hand filing is great in the field, just helps the saw to cut easier if the teeth are trued up . October 25, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing saw I cut trees for a living I bought this saw because I had trouble with other saws bogging down once I got started and not wanting to start when I bought this saw everyone at my work made fun of me because they all have big ol saws from other company's well we had a bet the very first time i used the saw I run a 20inch bar on it an they run 24s on theirs my saw out performed out cut and out produced their saws all day long now my whole crew owns the 362 even the 362c thumbs up the stihl the build amazing products can never go wrong with this saw September 16, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great saw very surprising I use saws every day for work and cutting fire wood on weekends. I gave the MS362c a run and to say I was impressed would be an under statement.I used it next to my mate using an 18 month old 46 magnum in a large dead box barrel same bar and chain size and the 362 out preformed the 46 magnum. Both saws had the full 20" bar loaded up and the 362 was cutting much better and faster. This saw will not disappoint. I would not put larger than a 20" bar on this saw if a larger bar 25"+ up grade to a 66 magnum.I'd recommend this saw for both professional cutters and rural cutters alike. July 3, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Decent saw...depending on the job I am 60 and hopefully still making firewood etc for another 10 or more years (Northwestern Red Fir/Tamarack).My primary saw is an aging (like me) 044 with a 25 inch bar and my backup saw was shot so looking at the coming years I opted for this 2 pound lighter saw and the easy start compression release on all these new models. It came stock with a 25 inch bar.It does not have the power or the speed of the larger 044 but does OK on logs under 20 inch diameter.I was careful to follow the 5 tank break-in process and bought the high-dollar Stihl oil to get the warranty extension. Midway through the break-in process I had a problem with restarting the saw if it was hot but soon discovered it was a fouled spark plug.I would avoid using longer bars ..and if your work is smaller you might consider a shorter bar to improve power to get out when a kerf starts to pinch. Rated 3 out of 5 by This is a good saw, less power, but good The ms 362 has always been my favorite. This particular sam does not have a good system for it carburetor. There has been a removal of your basic screw adjuster and the addition of a small two prong plug. Therfore there is no way for me to adjust the idle. We have about 8 to 10 of these where I work and five or more die while idling, EVERYTIME! ! the capitals and exclamation point are there to describe my frustration. Stihl needs to include or recommend with every purchase of this saw whatever it is they use to adjust this. Seriously, I can't keep a few of these running without staying on the gas hard. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great weight to power ratio! Best chainsaw I have ever owned. Used and owned several other top brands and they simply don't compare! February 14, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Great Idea This saw is NOT a professional saw. It would be good for the occasional user, who does not depend on it to get the job done. The "Quick Stop" feature, is great, and makes using the saw very safe. However, the saw, even with a 16 inch bar, is very under powered. At 2 months old, tried to trade the saw in for a bigger saw from the dealer, who told me he wouldn't give me anything for it. November 15, 2014
